Domenica 8 ottobre 2023, 10 ragazzi dell’IIS Archimede di Modica, accompagnati dalle professoresse Susy Pala e Anna Cataudella, sono partiti alla volta di Frascati, per partecipare ad un seminario europeo sui diritti umani al quale hanno preso parte 4 paesi della comunità europea: Italia, Turchia, Romania e Germania.
Tale seminario è stato tenuto dalla team leader dell'Accademia Europea di Otzenhausen, Justine Bitan e dal suo staff, composto da Tom e Sophie.
Durante la permanenza i ragazzi hanno socializzato e partecipato a varie attività di gruppo come ricerche, presentazioni di power point e realizzazione di campagne pubblicitarie.
Tutte le attività proposte sono state molto stimolati poiché oltre a comunicare in lingua Inglese, ci hanno aiutato a comprendere meglio l’importanza dei diritti umani e la situazione mondiale attuale, aggiungendo qualcosa di significativo al nostro bagaglio culturale.
È stato molto importante parlare di come e quali paesi violano i diritti umani e capire che anche i processi di produzione possono diventare sostenibili rispettando i diritti di ogni lavoratore. Questa esperienza ci ha creato le basi per diventare cittadini europei.
Le attività più significative sono state caratterizzate da giochi apparentemente semplici, ma che, grazie a particolari regole, facevano comprendere tematiche importanti. Alla fine di ogni giornata vi era un evaluation, con cui venivano tratte le conclusioni delle varie attività e si evidenziavano le eventuali criticità. Questo modello di studio molto dinamico e coinvolgente è stato davvero interessante e di certo lascerà una traccia indelebile nella nostra memoria.
Ci auguriamo che un metodo simile possa essere usato anche nella nostra scuola.
Un altro evento molto significativo della nostra settimana è stata “la serata internazionale”, durante la quale ogni nazione ha presentato il proprio paese, ha offerto cibo tipico e ha proposto simpatiche attività di gruppo come balli, canti e quiz a premi. Questa serata è stata determinante per stringere amicizia con gli altri ragazzi.
Il penultimo giorno abbiamo passato un’intera giornata a Roma, con visita guidata al Colosseo. L'ultima sera siamo rimasti svegli fino alle 4 ad attendere la partenza del gruppo rumeno, la mattina sono partiti gli altri gruppi tra pianti, abbracci e saluti strazianti.
Il gruppo è stato coeso e abbiamo condiviso ogni momento della settimana. Dopo il lavoro nella seminar room si mangiava insieme e si stava insieme cantando, ballando o semplicemente parlando. Quest'esperienza è stata molto apprezzata da tutti noi, in particolare per lo scambio culturale, per le esperienze fatte, per le nuove amicizie e per i piccoli amori sbocciati.

Paolo Fidone: It has been the best week of my life, starting from meeting new people by all around Europe, we studied a hard topic but we had fun doing it, spending our free time talking and getting to know each other better. The overall experience is awesome, we all had the time of our lives.
Antony Grimaldi: It was a marvelous experience that we will all remember in many years on end.
Mirko Cicero: If you have the chance, please do this experience! There is no trip that can give you everything as an Erasmus one. Incredible friendships bloomed around the world.
A whole week that will improve your personality, values and determination. Don’t think about it, just do it!
Andrea Pulino: To be honest, at first, I didn't want to participate to this project but I'm really glad that I did, I discovered new people, new cultures and a new me, all thanks to this experience.
Nicola Ragusa: This Erasmus was the best experience of my entire life, we learned so much about Human Rights, about different cultures and different people.
Each of us should do at least one Erasmus in his life, because it changes you, in a positive way.
The connection between the people was so deep, that looked like there weren't any different country, because there weren't for real, we all came from Earth💜.
Davide Adamo: This has been my third experience with the Otzenhausen project, and also this time, it was a great success. I greatly enjoyed discovering new aspects of human rights through this modern approach. I had the opportunity to connect with people from other nations and found that, deep down, we aren't all that different. I have gained many friendships that will be etched in my heart forever, and I hope to nurture them in the future.
Rosario Pisana: At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do any Erasmus experience but already on the first day I changed my mind, knowing other people from other parts of the Europe was really nice. They were like another family to live with for a week and no one wanted that week to end.
Giovanni Basile: This was my first experience in an Erasmus project, at first, I was skeptical, but very soon I changed my mind, it was awesome and I would do it again if I had the chance.
Antonio Caschetto: Erasmus, one word and many meanings: it can be group, intercultural experience, a way to learn about important topics like Human Rights and doing it in a more interesting way.
